FC Zürich 2 - Real Madrid 5 (Champions League)

After he was fouled just outside the box, Cristiano Ronaldo slammed an unstoppable free-kick into the Zurich net and paid back a small slice of his world record transfer fee. Raul grabbed the second from close range seven minutes later and on the stroke of half time Gonzalo Higuain all but finished off the game as a contest with the third for Real. A debatable penalty, fired home by Xavier Margairaz brought the home side back into the match on 64 and a minute later the comeback was truly on when Sylvan Aegerter headed home. But late goals from Cristiano Ronaldo and Guti restored the three goal advantage.
